Friends of the Urban Forest (FUF) wants to see your best photograph of an urban street tree decorated for the holidays! Visit your local streets with your camera to capture an image of a street tree that embodies the holiday spirit. Show off your decorating skills by decorating the tree yourself, or photgraph a tree decorated by someone else. Either way, we want to see the festive trees of your community and your artistic talents with a camera!
Judgment Criteria
| • | Tree must be planted curbside on a San Francisco street - not in a yard or other private property. |
| • | We're open to pictures taken by day or by night, with people or without, and showing the whole tree or just part of it. |
| • | You don't need to be an expert photographer or have the best equipment. Use whatever tools you have (whether it's a cell camera or the newest, high definition camera available). Be creative and make sure your tree displays the holidays! |
| • | Trees benefit city-dwellers in a variety of ways, and one of FUF's goals is to promote awareness and appreciation of the precious urban forest. When taking your picture, remember to show off how much fun street trees can be to help spread awareness and appreciation for the urban forest! |
Prizes
| • | 1st, 2nd and FUF's Favorite will receive the book "Trees of San Francisco" and a Friends of the Urban Forest T-Shirt! |
| • | All photos submitted will have a chance to be featured on the FUF website, and the favorite photos will be featured in a newsletter and on the FUF Facebook page. |
Voting Process
| • | 1st and 2nd Place: Determined by the submission that has the most votes and the highest average rating at the end of the contest. |
| • | "FUF's Favorite": This picture will be selected by the people at the Friends of the Urban Forest. They will review each photo following the criteria above and pick their favorite. |
| • | The contest will close to new submissions and votes on Tuesday, December 28th, 2010. The 1st and 2nd place winners will be determined by the standings after the contest closes. The winners of the FUF's Favorite prize will be announced on Wednesday, December 29th, 2010. |
